Bulgarian economy was ranked 51st among 183 world economies in the last research “Ease of doing business” conducted by the World Bank. The ranking place of each country comes as a result of a calculated index which represents the performance of the countries in nine different areas: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and closing a business. The ranking on each topic is the simple average of the percentile rankings on its component indicators.
According to the ranking table, Bulgaria’s strongest advantages as a country recommended for developing business and providing good opportunities for foreign investors are: starting a business, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes and enforcing contracts.
The report indicates that only 23 countries demonstrate better conditions for starting a business than Bulgaria and countries like Poland, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic are behind in the global rank. Further to this, it is important to be mentioned that Bulgaria has moved 7 places ahead since the year 2010, mainly due to the less days needed to incorporate a business and the Paid-in Min. capital which has fallen tremendously since 2008 from 56.3% to 0.00% in 2011.
