Bank Accounts and Payments
Dual Price Display
Mandatory only in consumer relations
Receipts: only the total amount in both currencies
Traders: fair and transparent price formation
Large traders (>10 million annual turnover) – daily online publication of prices
*Penalties: 10,000 – 100,000 BGN (repeat violation: up to 200,000 BGN)
Taxes
Declarations for past periods → in BGN
Declarations for future periods → in EURO
Amended declarations → in the currency of the relevant period
Accounting Documentation and Reporting
Accounting balances and annual financial statements → in EURO (from 2026, in thousands of EURO)
Rules: Conversion of shares, stakes, capital
After 01.01.2026, the capital declared in the Commercial Register will be converted and updated automatically
Commercial companies will have the obligation to update their articles of association/ statutes by converting the capital into euros and then declaring the updated document in the Commercial Register.



Submission of Payroll Data
All December 2025 salaries must be reported in BGN, even if entered in January.
All January 2026 salaries and onward must be reported in EUR. This also applies to adjustments for closed periods.
Flexi Forms
The currency unit changes to EUR as of 01.01.2026.
Sb will send updated forms in November 2025.
Sb recommendation: Switch to DataHub – an automated platform for submitting payroll information.
Payslips and Reporting Forms
Payslips for December 2025 → in BGN (unless explicitly agreed for dual issuance).
From January 2026 → all payslips and reports (accounting, statistics, provisions, output files) will be generated only in EUR
Payments
File structure does not change – only the currency.
Bank files generated before 01.01.2026 → in BGN; after 01.01.2026 → in EUR.
Sb recommendations:
- temporarily freeze payments at the end of December, or
- plan dates in advance to avoid delays.
Penny tests are not needed.
System Integrations (HR/ERP/Payroll)
- As of 01.01.2026, all integrated data must be submitted in EUR
- For information concerning December 2025, amounts must still be submitted in BGN

Employment Documentation
Contracts prepared in December 2025 must be in BGN.
Contracts prepared from January 2026 → in EUR.
Sb recommendation: avoid new hires in the last 2 weeks of 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
If an employee starts work in January but the contract is signed in December → include them in the December cycle, so it remains in BGN.
Templates and Documents
Sb will update all HR documents for clients for whom we prepare employment documentation.
If you prepare the documentation internally, please ensure that the currency is updated across all templates and internal policies.

Software
Clients for whom Sb provides accounting services using our software → Sb will automatically convert the balances from BGN to EUR within the legal deadlines.within the legal deadlines.
Clients for whom Sb performs primary accounting in the client’s software → the clients themselves must make the necessary settings.
Clients with their own accounting software → Sb can provide assistance if needed.
Invoices
Invoices dated December 2025 → in BGN.
Invoices dated January 2026 onward → in EUR, regardless of due date.
For payments of old invoices in BGN → Sb will handle revaluation if necessary.
Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
Reports for 2025 → in BGN.
Reports for 2026 → in EUR.
